‘Horsetail’ aquatic plants are fun to grow because of their unique appearance. They are perfect for the edge of your calm pond. Among the horsetails, the water horsetail has the largest central hollow, with approximately 80% of the stem diameter being hollow.

The stem fragments are utilized to fine-tune the reeds in musical instruments like saxophones and clarinets. In the past, the rough stems with its silica crystals were employed for scrubbing pots and as a sanding instrument. In Japan, it is utilized for polishing, either in the form of a liquid extracted from boiled stalks or the dried stems themselves. Additionally, this particular type of reed is favored in Asian style and Modernist garden designs, as its upright growth pattern enhances visual appeal and is ideal for narrow planting areas adjacent to walkways or fences.
